Beach Chic: Painted Mason Jars

Add some beach-y vibes to your office or home with these pretty and inexpensive painted mason jars. Perfect for organizing your make-up brushes, sea shells or Pura Vida Bracelets! Supplies: Glass Mason Jars (I found each of these for 50 cents at my local consignment store! You could also re-use any glass jar.) Acrylic Paint Paint Brush Newspaper Nail File Clear Acrylic Sealer Directions: 1) Make sure the mason jars are squeaky clean and free from any moisture. Protect your work surface by laying down some old paper. You're ready to start painting! 2) Brush on a thin layer of paint starting top to middle (don't forget the inside of the jar lip), then flip the jar over and paint the rest. Let dry for an hour or so then paint another even coat from top to bottom. You can even paint a set of ombre jars by adding white paint to lighten the color for each jar. Get creative! 3) Let everything dry overnight. It's important to let the paint really set so it will stick to the outside of the jar and won't peel off. 4) Time to distress! Using an old nail file, lightly scuff and scratch away at the paint to give it that "I found this at the beach" look. Finally, spray on a coat of acrylic sealer and let dry completely overnight. Now you're ready to fill them with flowers, brushes, markers or whatever needs organizing. Share this post if you want to bring some beach vibes home!
