Wanderlust Wednesday: South America

South America can often times be overlooked when considering a place for travel. But it reality, it's one continent that has yet to be touched. While it does have huge metropolitan cities like Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, it is also home to the largest rainforest, largest waterfall, and largest salt flats. It's enriched with history and beauty in every corner. This is only a small introduction list to the many wonders of South America.

1. Machu Picchu, Peru These ruins are over 550 years old and rest almost 8,000 feet above sea level. It's about a two day trip up to the Lost City of the Incas, so make sure you're in shape before you embark on your journey. 2. Uyuni Salt Flats, Bolivia At over 4,000 square miles, makes this the worlds largest salt flat. It's hard to depict where the salt flat ends and the sky begins because the salt acts like a mirror. It's crazy to believe that this is the result of a prehistoric lake transformed between periods of time. 3. Iguazu Falls, Between Argentina & Brazil One of the largest waterfalls in the world, with 300 different individual waterfalls all varying in size. There's catwalks so that you can walk along the top of the falls and peep down at the massive fall. If you do find yourself here, make sure to take the boat ride which brings you up close and personal to the splash zone of these natural wonders. 4. Baños, Ecuador Zip lining, cliff jumping, hot springs, and swinging at the edge of the world; this is the spot for the adventurer. With so much to offer, this city is a hot tourist spot with something for everyone to enjoy. 5. Perito Moreno Glacier, Argentina If you travel here during the summer you will get the chance to see a chunk of ice break off, but if you go during the colder months you'll have the chance to trek along the ice. Whichever journey you choose, you'll be amazed by the view.
